Radicals 

  • The part that most closely tired to the character's meaning is called a radical. 

  • Some radicals can be used as independent characters while some can not. 

  • There are seven different categories of the radicals based on their positions.

There are around 200 radicals in Chinese and there are the most common 40 radicals.
